Cleo Seelinger passed away on Monday, April 10, 2000. My words can't do justice to the joy that Cleo brought to the lives of all who knew her, but since Cleo was synonymous with Anaco, this is a most appropriate place to offer my own personal tribute to her.
Cleo Seelinger
1913 - 2000
My recollection is that I first met Cleo in 1968 or 1969, when my mother Shirley and I stayed with her briefly at her home in Austin. I was 10 or 11 at the time, and was interested in stamp collecting. Cleo shared with me some extra stamps from a collection she had - probably from one of her children. That made such an impression on me that I can remember to this day almost every detail of that day. That was the kind of person she was. She touched all of our lives.
Most of us who knew Cleo knew her through the Anaco Reunions. She was tireless in her work to bring all her friends - more like her extended family - together for a wonderful visit to talk about old times and renew friendships. Most of us did not realize how completely Cleo's generosity - and so many other wonderful virtues - permeated everything she did in life.
I have included Cleo's obituary, for any visitors who wish to read it. (please click on the highlighted link)
Finally, I know it is just coincidence, but I started this web site on April 10, the day we lost our dear friend.
We'll all miss you dearly Cleo -
