The reason the world needs another web page,
especially one about Anaco, Venezuela

The idea for the web page was conceived by several people at about the same time.  I finally decided to commit to the project (thanks for the threats Kathy!) on April 10, 2000.

I am looking for suggestions about what content people would like to see included in a web page about Anaco.  Obviously, current pictures of places people know from their time in Anaco, maybe some old pictures from various sources (I don't have ready access to a scanner here), a map of Anaco if I can find one...  suggestions will be appreciated.

Also, I am looking for email addresses of people that have lived in Anaco, Venezuela.  An idea just occurred to me - to include a directory of people whose email addresses I receive over time - if they agree to have them included.

Another idea - in addition to pictures, maybe I can include stories, or excerpts of stories that people have about their time in Anaco.

For anyone who may check in here, and who may or may not remember me, I lived in Anaco for 10 years - from 1961 until August (I think?) of 1971.  I have a sister named Carolyn.  Both of us attended Escuela Anaco for many years.  My father was Perry Lowrey & he worked for Mobil in many parts of Venezuela from January, 1939 until he retired from the company in August, 1971.  My mother was Shirley Lowrey & she worked as a teacher at Escuela Anaco for many of her years in Venezuela.

I am married, and my wonderful wife, Peggy, and I have a home on the far west side of Chicago (that's where she's from).  I have worked for Mobil (now ExxonMobil) since August, 1979.  After wandering around the world working on many projects, Mobil offered the opportunity to return to Venezuela to work on the development of an oil field in Southeastern Anzoategui - in an area called Cerro Negro.  I lived in Caracas for two years - from January, 1998 until January, 2000 when I was transferred to Maturin - now the oil field capital of Eastern Venezuela.  I have visited Anaco several times during the time I have been back.  I never cease to be amazed at how little the place has changed in nearly 30 years...   As usual with the oil field, I have no idea how long I will be here in Venezuela this time, so I'd better get started on this project now...

I'll quit running on - please bear with me as I develop this site.  I will greatly appreciate your support, suggestions, feedback (constructive criticism only!) and ideas.  If you happen across my site by whatever means, please pass the word along to someone you know.

Thanks,

John Lowrey
